3-Day Morocco Desert Tour: Fez to Marrakech via Merzouga

Day 1: Fez – Ifrane – Azrou – Midelt – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert

Your desert adventure begins in the historic city of Fez, heading south through the scenic Middle Atlas Mountains. 

First stop is Ifrane, a picturesque town often called “Little Switzerland” due to its alpine-style architecture and cool climate.

Continue to Azrou, a traditional Berber town surrounded by cedar forests inhabited by Barbary macaques—perfect for a nature walk and a cultural glimpse into mountain life. 

Journey onward to Midelt, nestled at the foot of the High Atlas Mountains, where you’ll pause for a relaxing lunch.

Travel through the dramatic Ziz Valley to reach Erfoud, a desert gateway known for its fossil workshops and ancient geological treasures. 

As the day draws to a close, arrive in Merzouga, where your camel caravan awaits.

 Ride across the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi and witness an unforgettable Saharan sunset.

Day 2: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Gorges

Wake early for a sunrise camel trek, watching the first light illuminate the dunes. After breakfast at camp, set off towards the Todra Gorges, a natural wonder with towering limestone cliffs carved by the Todra River—ideal for a short hike or exploration.

Continue your journey to the Dades Valley, famed for its winding roads, dramatic rock formations, and lush oasis scenery. 

Take time to admire the striking “Monkey Fingers” rock formation and the switchback road of Tissadrine.

Dinner and overnight stay at a comfortable hotel or guesthouse in the Dades Gorges.

Day 3: Dades – Skoura – Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

After breakfast, travel through the Valley of the Roses, passing the town of Kelaat M’Gouna, known for its fragrant rose products.
